It’s time for the CubeOpen Hamburg 2026 – Hamburg’s highly unofficial cube championship!
CupeOpen Hamburg is an event dedicated to celebrating Magic’s greatest format and showcasing a variety of cubes while also maintaining a competitive environment.
You don’t need to bring any cards to participate – everything you need will be provided.
CubeOpen Hamburg is an inclusive environment. We do not tolerate any form of racism, sexism, homophobia or transphobia. If you hear, see, or experience anything at our event or leading up to it that makes you or someone else feel unsafe, please reach out to us as soon as possible.
When and Where?
CubeOpen Hamburg will be held the weekend of September 5th + 6th, 2026 at the Hafenklang, Große Elbstraße 84, 22767 Hamburg.
Doors open at 9:00 Saturday and drafting starts 10:00. Please try to arrive by 9:30 to get settled in and not miss any cubing. Sunday starts an hour earlier, to allow a timely journey home for those from other cities.

Structure
The format of the event will be nine rounds of Swiss rounds plus a top 8 playoff. The swiss portion is divided into three drafts, each featuring a different cube:
Two drafts on Saturday and one more draft followed by the top 8 on Sunday.
Top 8 will be single elimination. Matches in the top 8 are untimed.
Players will be matched within their respective pods for each round, disregarding overall standings. Deck building and matches will be timed.
Side event drafts will be available Saturday night as well as on Sunday afternoon for those not in the top 8.
There might also be some pre-show drafts Friday night – stay tuned!
Eat and drink
Cold drinks and coffee will be available for purchase at the venue for a small price.
There will be no lunch served at the event this time. We recommend bringing your own food or using a delivery service. Some snacks will be available, but unfortunately, we cannot provide food for over 60 people across two days.
Prizes

Throughout the event you will be able to win prizes for completing small achievements. For example: if you for take 7+ damage from a single [[Dark Confidant]] trigger, you have achieved Greatness at any cost and will be rewarded accordingly.
The Cubes
An Old Bordered Vintage Cube. Power 9, Chaos Orb, Old Man of the Sea, Shivan Dragon and a whole lot of stuff in between..
Time to get schwifty!
The goal for this Cube is to have interactive and decision-rich gameplay in a cube that features iconic, strong, unusual, weird and spicy cards.
Welcome to the B cube, where every card is a B!
This is a lower power level cube which plays a bit like retail limited, featuring some of your favourite limited all-stars. The idea behind the cube is that every card you look at you go “wow I remember that was great in its format”.
This harmonious list creates highly interactive and powerful gameplay that marries synergy with power and greatly rewards situational awareness and technical play.
A fully powered Vintage cube. Get ahead with fast mana, take the Initiative, or straight up combo kill your opponents. No holding back with this cube.
A perfectly normal Cube with one twist: the only creatures are 100 copies of the card Ornithopter. There are no creature tokens, there are no creature lands, and there are no ways to deal damage to your opponent that don’t have something to do with the card Ornithopter.
Originally a direct copy of LSV’s cube, drafted on a Discord server called The Divinations, it has since evolved through several updates to better match the preferences of the community. It’s a classic Powered Vintage Cube, but with an emphasis on fun gameplay. To keep the experience enjoyable, it avoids “unfun” combos like Time Vault + Key or game-warping mechanics like the Initiative.
This is a high complexity graveyard synergy cube. Interaction should be evaluated higher than usual. Enjoy the jank of draft-matters, un-cards and digital only cards!
The idea for this cube is to pose a counterpart to snowball-heavy legacy cubes of today.
Let go of what you think is the reality of Peasant plays and begin to dream bigger. Mix and match dozens of packages of synergy to go from pile of cards to a well oiled engine of a deck: be it a hand full of elves and other dorks channeling out massive amounts of mana, dozens of little Affinity cogs scuttling around, hundreds of creatures storming from the stack, thousands of pests being swallowed to feed the machine – or several of those at once!
The Peasant+ Cube is a 450 card peasant cube that uses rare lands for mana fixing. It aims to provide a high powered environment, much like an unpowered Eternal cube, but through the lens of a peasant restriction for non land cards. This facilitates the inclusion of more power outliers than are typically found in peasant cubes, which results in a greatly increased speed and power level of the format.

Sacred Geometry is a celebration of Magic’s most elegant cards. Card choices are driven primarily by sophistication of design, resulting in a broad power level band and emergent archetypes and synergies.
