It’s time for the next CubeOpen – in Potsdam on January 31-February 1!
CubeOpen is an event dedicated to celebrating Magic’s greatest format and showcasing a wide variety of cubes.
You don’t need to bring any cards to participate – everything you need will be provided.
CubeOpen is an inclusive environment. We do not tolerate any form of racism, sexism, homophobia or transphobia. If you hear, see, or experience anything at our event or leading up to it that makes you or someone else feel unsafe, please reach out to us as soon as possible.
If you cannot wait anymore or didn’t get a seat you could always come to the weekly cube night each Wednesday at 18:30 “Bar Gelb” Charlottenstraße 29, Potsdam Innenstadt 🙂
When and Where?
CubeOpen Potsdam II will be held the weekend of January 31 – February 1, 2026 at Freiland Haus 1: Friedrich-Engels-Straße 22, 14473 Potsdam (google maps).
Doors open at 9:15 and drafting starts 10:00. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to get settled in and not miss any cubing.

Eat and drink
Cold drinks, hot tea and coffee will be available for purchase at the venue for a small price.
We’ll organize some food and snacks, but please have a plan B / bring some of your own food, as we cannot guarantee providing enough food for all people 🙂
The Cubes
Approachable fair cube featuring recent cards, a relatively high power level, and synergy.
An Old Bordered Vintage Cube. Power 9, Chaos Orb, Old Man of the Sea, Shivan Dragon and a whole lot of stuff in between..
Fully powered Vintage cube. Get ahead with fast mana, take the Initiative, or straight up combo kill your opponents. No holding back with this cube.
Shadow Daycare & Adoption Center
Rules change: everyone gets 3 Death’s Shadow after the draft. The cube is focused on black and paying life to enable the shadows.
A high power level graveyard recursion cube, featuring some combos, draft matters and previously digital only cards!
The freedom and ingenuity of kitchen table magic, converted into cube!
A very approachable cube featuring elegant, simple cards.
A Cube that showcases the depth of gameplay possible with cards from the premodern era (before 2003).
Once upon a time in a tavern… – A Fairy Tale Cube
A classic Legacy Cube
A non-powermaxed Grixis Vintage Cube showcasing some of the most powerful cards in those colors.
A beginner/iconic oriented Cube. Only cards with at least one common print, many from Core Sets (simple/puristic) and Masters Sets (iconic/nostalgic). The aim is to represent every color of magic in its basic form and values.
A rules-change 1v1 Cube filled with themes about historic spells and permanents.
Lorwyn Homage – Unity Through Diversity
A cube featuring many interesting decisions until late into the draft between: power level, hard typal commits and flexibility.
A museum of Pioneer legal draft formats packaged into a Peasant Cube.
Featuring 100 copies of Ornithopter and no other creatures, based on the idea of Andy Mangold.
The Top 8 Cube
Originally started as a challenge to create a format in which one of our favorite cards, Dragonstorm, is viable. Since then it has settled into a modern power level, but the namesake card continues to be supported.
